Paris. France

Production: Artvidéo Lab

Project: ". WAV"

Bernardo escapes from his everyday life by inventing stories. While he tries to weave a narrative, he is confronted with his doubts on the identity of his characters and with the evanescence of his hero. Fiction-poem freely adapted from the novel-poem The Waves by Virginia Woolf.

.WAV evokes the tireless flow of time, this daily force which condemns each of us to the impossible quests for meaning and immortality. Proposing a poetic reflection on the identity and the creation, this fiction is based on a choral form with 6 soliloquies making heard at the same time the unity in solitude and the multiplicity of doubts and choices. The limit between real and imaginary is made porous by the trouble between the position of narrator, character and actor, and which sometimes is confused with the real-life experience of the actors. This film draw up the tragic portrait of the contemporary individualism confronted with the life vacuity.

Project: Recording Device

A poetic exploration of the ways we store our memories. A collage of words, images and music, showing how we scratch and etch our impressions onto paper, film, vinyl and other media, shaping our view of the world. A journey through an interior landscape filled with snakes, saxophones, pyramids, the film’s two narrators explore the effects of stored memories, both corrosive and illuminating.

Project: The Linen Closet

An older woman (Alice Teirstein) opens a closet door and finds a key to her confused, fading memories. Hearing and vision loss isolate her, and her mental confusion keeps her suspended in the tactile sensations of the immediate present. The touch of old linen brings back old family history, both pleasant and traumatic. Based on an improvised dialog by David Finkelstein and Ian W. Hill, “The Linen Closet” blends animation, music, dance, and performance to create a poetic portrait of the inner world of a woman struggling to make sense of the present and find peace with the past.
